WSRC ADULT Summer PROGRAMS

This 10-week Summer Rowing League (SRL) program is designed for rowers of all abilities who wish to row once a week. During the 90-minute 1:1 ratio coached practice session, rowers will learn basic rowing technique and boat moving skills, both on land and on the water, in a fun and low intensity environment. Why 10-11 rowers per team and not 8? We want to ensure if 1-2 members of your team can't make practice due to work or family commitments, your 8-person shell can still go out for practice. Rowers will work together as a team in an eight-person shell. An end of Summer Regatta (race) and cookout will take place at the Frank Lloyd Wright Boathouse for all participants. “SRL” begins the week of June 9th and runs through August 16th. Practices which fall on holidays will be rescheduled at the convenience of the coach and crew. Rowers also have access to the WSRC facilities erg and tank room Monday-Saturday during the duration of the program. Typically, makeup sessions will be held on Saturdays or Sundays and when equipment is available. ****SRL BONUS Rows: July 12th AND August 2nd FROM 9:15AM-11:15AM****

TIME: Adult EXPERIENCED AND NOVICE sessions are offered Monday through Thursday from 6:00-7:30pm

  • Experienced Rower = 1+ season of (SRL and/or FRL) rowing / Novice Rower = New to Rowing

Sponsorship Fee: $300.00 per team (Your sponsorship dollars help fund the many expenses of rowing at West Side and equipment maintenance. Your fee also helps defray the cost of your coxswain) (All regatta fees included in program cost)

A TeamSnap will be used to organize practices. If practice is cancelled due to weather conditions, a make-up session will be planned for the following weekend if it cannot take place in the tank or erg room due to another program utilizing the space.

Rowing is a great sport for any age. The West Side Rowing Club is a great place to learn how to row, no matter your experience, age, or physical fitness. In our Learn-To-Row program we offer a two-hour introductory class.

Each class begins with a short instructional video, instruction on proper warm-up and stretching, rowing technique for sweep rowing, how to handle boats on and off the water, rowing terminology, and teamwork skills. We utilize our indoor rowing machines (ergs), our 10-seat INDOOR rowing tank, and our on-the-water training boats to introduce all participants to the sport of rowing.

NOTE: Rowers are requested to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of their session. All sessions will begin with a short introductory PowerPoint Presentation and Safety Review. On-water activities for all lean to row sessions are dependent on weather, number of participants, and time constraints.
